India's first theatrically showcased talent hunt for aspiring filmmakers


First Clap, an initiative of Moviebuff, is India's first theatrically showcased talent hunt for aspiring filmmakers, challenging them to tell a compelling story in three minutes on any subject of their interest. Beginning December 16, 2016, more than 250entries were received. The top five shortlisted films are being screened for a period of five weeks across 150 screens in the Qube Cinema Network from March 3rd 2017 to 13th April 2017.

On offer to the winners of this contest, chosen from public voting andthe scores awarded by a panel of eminent jurists, apart from cash prizes for the top three entries, is an enviable opportunity to the winner to narrate a script to actor Suriya’s2D Entertainment and/or an opportunity to intern with the production company as well!

The shortlisted finalists include App(a) Lock - Directed by Pradeep Ranganathan,
Indha Naal Iniya Naal - Directed byMagesh Balasubramaniam, Ival Azhagu - Directed by Sri Vijay Ganapathy, Think & Ink- Directed byNattu Dev and Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam - Directed by Prabhu Jeyaram.

The judges include Cinematographer and Director PC Sreeram, Director Ezhil, Director Vetrimaran, Cinematographer MageshMuthuswamy, Director Arun Kumar S.U., CEO of 2D Entertainment RajsekarKarpoorasundarapandian, Film Editor KL Praveen, AudiographerUdayakumar, Director Hari Viswanath, Chennai International Short Film Festival Director SrinivasaSanthanam and Film Critic and Trade Analyst Sathish Kumar who is also CEO of Common Man Media.

The uniqueness of this contest, brought to you by Moviebuff, courtesy the Qube Cinema Network& LittleShows, is that, for the first time ever, contestants have an opportunity to have direct feedback from moviegoers for their creative work via screenings all across the state in mainstream cinema halls!

At the same time, when presented on the big screen, the filmmaker can also gauge and experience audience reaction first-hand.
